Yesterday ended up a real wash-out – my body seems to have decided that a) I’ve had hormonal regularity for long enough and I’m getting old enough to start playing silly buggers and b) that I have finished my novels and it’s time to rest. So I’ve not been a happy chappy and I’ve been way too tired to do anything useful.
Still not so good today, but I’ll keep going.

I’ve never been one of those who likes to put on music when I’m moping. I’ve lived with girls who had the song they played during the break-up, the song they played the first time they saw the ex with someone else, the song they played on those fabulous days when you feel fat and ugly and stupid and can do nothing but eat icecream and bemoan the world.
So, no song here.

Here’s where I kick myself for already using Crowded House’s Distant Sun, cause that was our wedding song.
So let’s go at this from the point of view of – if I were getting married now, with all I know of myself and relationships and love, what would be the song that I’d pick for my wedding?

No, go with me on this. We’ve got the fabulous lyrics – I’ve paid my dues, time after time (which sums up everyone in their 40s), I paid my sentence though committed no crime (sure can feel like that), and bad mistakes, I’ve made a few (all the shit relationships before you), I’ve had my share of sand kicked in my face but I’ve come through (we’re strong and we’re here and that’s what counts).
And when you’ve just got married, you’re so incandescently happy that you do feel like you rule the world.
