If you’re seeing this post – it means the scheduling worked and I’m currently in a plane, high in the air, about half way between Canberra and Melbourne.
If you don’t see this post, it means the scheduling didn’t work but you’re not going to know that because I’m going to edit this post before I post it when I get home.

I’m on my way to Melbourne because I’m speaking tonight at the Melbourne Science Fiction Club. What, you didn’t know about that? You obviously don’t receive my newsletter then. You should, it’s excellent. You can sign up via this link: Subscribe to Nicole’s newsletter Anyhoo, I’ll be speaking about romance and how fabulous it is and how romance and speculative fiction should be best buddies and all that. I’m also going to be visiting some bookstores today (there might be signed stock available by the time I’m done – keep an eye out for details) and spend some time with Trudi and Paul, and have lunch with my brother Matthew before winging it back to Canberra Saturday afternoon.
All on a broken ankle. Yes, the ankle that I thought I sprained five weeks ago I did, in fact, break. Doctor wants it immobilised. I’m trying to get hold of a boot in order to do that. Or maybe I’ll just get some plaster bandage from the chemist and do it myself. But I’m supposed to give it six weeks to heal properly before I start trying to use it again. Now, that said, I’m walking around Melbourne with just some strapping but hey – it’s not collapsed under me yet, it’s not going to over the next couple of days.
So, the writing… This week was a bit of a mixed bag cause life got in the way eg on Tuesday, I had to mow the lawn (yes, on a broken ankle…) I had the speech for tonight to finalise. I had some other publicity stuff to do.
I did some work on Battle for Odana, ready for the start of the CSFG novel crit group on Wednesday. As it works out, my novel isn’t going to be read until August, which gives me lots of time to let it sit and think cause I’ve ALMOST got the whole thing…
Re-write of Arranged to Love has gone to editor for consideration, and I’ve started submitting it to agents as well. So far only knock-backs, but we’ll see.
So I’m not one hundred percent certain what I’ll be working on next week. I’m thinking it will be editing ‘Much Ado About Love’ because I’ve still got some research to do on the other contemporary before I can start writing it.
More short stories too, perhaps. Shorts are great for practice and I’m all about the practice. Practice until I’m good, then keep practicing because I’ll need to get better.
On Sunday, I’ll share some pics from my time in Melbourne. Until then, have fun!
