Fab time in Melbourne

I had a dim plan of posting something yesterday, but then I decided it was Sunday, and I was tired, and I deserved a rest…

Melbourne was fabulous! A lot of walking and the ankle did quite well. I met the fabulous Maria, HarperCollins sales rep, and we headed first to Minotaur Books on Elizabeth Street. If you’ve not been there, and you’re into anything in the least bit geekery – boy, are you missing out!

My books on the shelf at Minotaur

Me and the Minotaur owner - I'm thinking Paul? Bad memory, so sorry.

I signed several copies here. Minotaur do online ordering via their website - http://www.minotaur.com.au/site.asp - so if you order there and ask, you might be able to get one of the signed copies.

I also signed masses of copies at Dymocks Melbourne. Thanks to Louise and all the staff who made me feel so welcome and had a bit of a chat to me.

Louise and I with some of the books I signed, including their fabulous scrapbook of authors

And then there was the talk at the Melbourne Science Fiction Club. It was a bit nerve-wracking, to be talking romance to the science fiction folks, but we had some interesting conversations and only got off track once… Also met a bit of a kindred spirit in Paula McGrath. And saw the MSFC library. Honestly, Melbournians – ya gotta check it out. It’s incredible, this room just chocka-block with classic and new science fiction and fantasy. Very impressive.

Thanks to Sue Ann Barber, here’s a pic of me with my jazz hands going:

One day, I’ll learn to speak without copious movements of my hands…

Thanks to the MSFC for inviting me down. It was  a fun night and great to catch up with a few old friends and meet some new ones.

I do like Melbourne. A shame you’re not set in warmer climes, or I’d really work on hubby to move there. But Melbourne and arthritis DO NOT go together.

Just can’t help it. I’m part Italian, part Irish and despite a healthy dose of German ancestry, those hands are gonna dance :)
